About Our Boards and Commissions
The Town Supervisor and Town Board appoint board members and commissioners to act as advisors in specific areas of town business. These individuals are volunteers who do not receive compensation.
The BAR’s sole purpose is to arrive at a fair and impartial decision regarding the assessment on property.
The general function of the Cemetery Commission shall be to oversee the operation and maintenance of the Town Cemeteries within the parameters of the annual budgetary appropriation provided by the Town Council as set forth in the Town Code.
The Heritage Area Commission (HAC) is responsible for the operation of the Seneca Falls Heritage Area Visitor Center and to increase the recognition and celebration of Seneca Falls as one of twenty heritage areas presently designated within New York State.
The HPC is responsible for preserving the Town of Seneca Falls historic building located within the Historic District.
The Planning Board of the Town of Seneca Falls in authorized and empowered to approve plats showing lots, blocks or sites, with or without streets or highways, to approve the development of entirely or partially undeveloped plats already filed in the office of the Clerk of the county and to approve preliminary plats within that part of the Town of Seneca Falls outside the limits of any incorporated city or village.
The Commission advises the Town Board on the administration of the recreation programs of the Town of Seneca Falls
The advisory committee reports to the Town Board regarding the construction and operation of waste management facilities in the Town of Seneca Falls.
The Zoning Board of Appeals shall hear and decide appeals and other matters referred to it or upon which it is required to pass under the provisions of Chapter §300-113 of the Town Code.

If you are interested in serving on a board, committee or commission please complete our application. Once we receive the completed form, it is shared with the Town Supervisor for consideration. It is common for appointments to committees to take a few months as most appointments are made by the Town Supervisor and subject to the approval of Town Board.
