Domestic violence and sexual assault service providers may offer: 24-hour hotlines, legal advocacy, counseling, emotional support, information and referral services, transitional housing, emergency shelter and assistance with appointments to court or the hospital for a forensic rape exam.

Law enforcement is statutorily required to provide English and non-English speaking victims with a copy of the DIR Domestic Violence Victim Rights Notice in the victim’s native language when identified.

Obtaining an Order of Protection
An order of protection is issued by the court to limit the behavior of someone who harms or threatens to harm another person. It is used to address various types of safety issues, including, but not limited to situations involving domestic violence.
