Project ChildSafe

The Seneca Falls Police Department has partnered with Project ChildSafe, to distribute firearm locks free of charge to local residents. Project ChildSafe is a nationwide firearms safety education program developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and supported by the firearms industry.

Firearms owners who request a free firearm lock will receive it no questions asked. We feel that even one accident or death that can be prevented through Project ChildSafe, the program will have been worth the effort. We encourage everyone who owns a firearm to store it when not in sure in a location inaccessible to children or other unauthorized persons. Ammunition should be stored in a separate location.

These locks are available in the lobby of the police department. The lobby is open during normal business days between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. Anyone wishing to stop by after those hours can use the call box next to the entrance and a police officer will be able to assist you.
