Green Seneca Falls

Energy efficiency and Sustainability are goals the Town is actively performing to enhance and secure its success as a community planning for future growth.

Clean Energy Communities

The Town of Seneca Falls is currently a participating CEC community seeking its official designation as a CE 2.0 Community with the NY State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). What this means is that NYSERDA recognizes steps the Town has taken to reduce overall energy use in day-to-day Town operations. Taking these steps reduce costs for the Town and taxpayers and releases less carbon and other emissions into the air, which reduces air pollution overall; a win-win for all. You can see a “scorecard” of the Town’s status and compare with other communities by visiting this website: NYSERDA CEC Scorecard

Municipal Energy Benchmarking

The Town of Seneca Falls began tracking annual energy use in all Town-owned buildings greater than 1,000 square feet in 2020. Below are the annual reports of this energy use. As the Town incorporates more energy-saving improvements in these buildings, the use should go down and be evident in future reporting.
