Building Improvement Fund Applications are Due NO LATER Than Friday, March 18!

Good morning! This is just a final call and reminder that Building Improvement Fund applications are due no later than tomorrow, March 18th, 2022 by 4pm.

APPLICATIONS MUST BE COMPLETE TO BE CONSIDERED. The exception to this is if you are still awaiting quotes and estimates. Even without those, your application must have your complete contact details, your complete property details, proof of available financing or self-pay capabilities, etc. In short, it must be as thorough and complete as possible.

What Happens Next?

What do I do if I already submitted an application?
Our lead DRI consultant, Ed Flynn with LaBella Associates, will conduct a review of received applications to make sure they are properly completed and have the necessary documentation. He will reach out to any applicant who submitted an incomplete application and/or any applicant still needing to provide required attachments or make modifications.

What do I do if I still plan on applying, but can’t get quotes or estimates?
If you have yet to apply for grant funding, we encourage you to do so, and we are available should you need guidance or have any questions about the process. New applications and incomplete applications (with the exception of formal quotes/estimates) risk not being reviewed for funding consideration.

What happens after the March 18th deadline?
Between then and early April, all submitted applications will be reviewed and applicants will be contacted if there are any missing details or necessary clarifications. In mid-April, the Local Planning Committee will review all finalized applications and submit recommended eligible projects to New York State for approval. Once the State returns with their list of awarded projects, we will immediately contact the property owners and proceed to the contract phase.

When can we start work on the property?
You must wait until you have a signed contract between the SFDC and yourself before starting any work related to the grant. Any work done prior to the signing of the contract will not be eligible for reimbursement. We will guide you through the process from start to finish if your project is selected for funding.
