Organic Waste Recycling

About

Did you know that the Town of Seneca Falls offers recycling of your organic waste at the Transfer Station?

The Town has partnered with Natural Upcycling to create the pilot program Organic Waste Recycling that has been active since 2021. The pilot program is offered to all Town residents and a select number of businesses. The food waste collected weekly is transported to an organic digester for processing as compost. At this time, we will not be able to offer compost back to town residents.

By diverting the compostable portion of our solid waste away from the landfill and returning nutrients to our soil and food system, we significantly reduce landfill waste, our carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions.

If you want to make your own compost, we can share information to get you started composting in your own backyard if you would like to. Just ask!
